We are writing to tell you about an organization of which we are proud
members. Informally created in December ’04, and inspired after meeting S.S.G.
Peter Torruella (in Iraq since the war began), a number of people, interested in
assisting our courageous soldiers, asked, “how can we help”? The obvious answer
was to provide tangible support in the form of packages from home.
American Troop Support Team (ATST) is a non-profit organization officially
formed in June, ‘05, which gives civilians an opportunity to contribute to the
armed forces at a modest, yet personal level. We are very proud of our initial
efforts and have received numerous responses from soldiers and their families
expressing genuine appreciation and heartfelt thanks. Our hope was to “lighten
their load,” and based on their letters, we have been successful, beyond
expectations.
The recipients of our program are dedicated, disciplined men and women
enlisted in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. They are focused
and determined to defend our liberty. They labor year long to achieve their
goals, and ultimately ours. Their parents, friends and relatives are extremely
proud of their children, as are we.
Our organization is working diligently to raise funds necessary to continue
providing these service men and women shipments. Our humble mission is a symbol
of our support, to help bring a touch of home, afar - and this is where we need
your help. We are encouraging you to aid us in making this endeavor more
successful. By supporting ATST, you will enhance our group, promoting morale and
offering a link between home and abroad. All types of donations are appreciated,
and every sponsor will become a formal member of our organization.
